The Roads of Canyonlands

Canyonlands is a large and remote park covering some of the most inaccessible areas in the continental United States. Paved roads provide some access to the Island in the Sky and Needles Districts. Island in the Sky is 18.9 miles off of US-191 via UT-313, north of Moab. Needles is 31.7 miles off of US-191 via UT-211, north of Monticello. These roads are covered below. Another district, the Maze, requires high clearance four wheel drive, driving skill, and patience to reach. It is not covered here, and significant planning is needed. Before traveling into any area of Canyonlands, a full tank of gas and a supply of water are good things to have.
