Campgrounds of Denali

Denali has a total of six formal camping areas. Two of them are large and reached from a paved road, and resemble normal national park campgrounds. The other four lay along the unpaved park road, as far as 85 miles from the start.

Igloo Creek Campground

Riley Creek Campground

Sanctuary River Campground

Savage River Campground

chart Demand: Very high. This campground is the smaller frontcountry campground in the park, and the only one other than Riley Creek that lies along the paved portion of the Denali Park Road. It is quite popular, and is always full during peak visitation.

Teklanika River Campground

chart Demand: Extreme. This campground is known as simply β€œTek” in the Denali community. Although it lies 15 miles beyond where the road is closed to private vehicles, those with reservations are allowed to drive their vehicle to Tek once, and the vehicle must stay there until checkout. It is extremely popular, and is always full during peak visitation. Reservations virtually mandatory.

Wonder Lake Campground
