Campgrounds of Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Theodore Roosevelt has two separate units, the North Unit and the South Unit. Each has their own developed campground, with the much busier South Unit’s being a little larger, and allowing advance reservations.
Cottonwood Campground
Size & Cost: 70 sites, $14 per site
Open: All Year
Reservations: Online
Location: 5.6 miles from the entrance in the South Unit
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, grills and picnic tables – limited in winter
Demand: High. This is the only campground in the popular South Unit right off of I-94, and is sometimes full during the summer season. Half of the sites can be reserved in advance online.
Juniper Campground
Size & Cost: 50 sites, $14 per site
Open: All Year
Reservations: No, first come, first served
Location: 4.8 miles from the entrance in the North Unit
Amenities: Running water, flush toilets, grills and picnic tables – limited in winter
Demand: Moderate. As the only campground in the North Unit it sometimes fills during the summer season, but is more likely to have an open spot than Cottonwood, above.
