About Glacier Bay Weather

Glacier Bay National Park's weather is heavily influenced by its proximity to the sea. This results in moderated temperatures that keep things warmer here than most of Alaska. It also results in heavy rainfall near the coast that supports a temperate rain forest. Of course, as elevations increase into the mountains, temperatures drop rapidly and the heavy rains become heavy snows. The statistics below are taken from the town of Gustavus, just outside of the park border along the coast. Weather there is very similar to the Bartlett Cove area of the park, where the vast majority of visitation takes place.
