Big Oak Flat Road in Yosemite National Park closed again today, and will remain closed until sometime in early April. The road closed for a few days last month, when a major rockslide fell on the road. It was reopened quickly, but was unpaved. The road is closing now to allow the section to be properly repaired before the busy visitation season starts.

The road is closed between the Foresta Junction and El Portal. This means that Yosemite Valley, along with the most of the rest of the park, in inaccessible via CA-120. Hodgdon Meadow Campground, the Merced Grove, and the Tuolumne Grove are still accessible from the CA-120 entrance. All other areas of the park are accessible only through CA-140 from Merced, or the Wawona Road/CA-41 from Oakhurst. The road is expected to reopen before Easter Weekend.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
