Kings Canyon Scenic Drive Mile 0.0 to 4.6

0.0 Entrance Sign in Kings Canyon National Park
CA-180 passes by the entrance sign welcoming you to Kings Canyon National Park and takes on the name Kings Canyon Scenic Drive.
0.1
The road passes through what used to be the entrance station area. A dangerously leaning tree caused them to remove this station, and there may be no sign of it by the time you visit.
0.6
The road approaches a stop sign. To the left, the new, and in theory temporary, entrance station lies. The park entrance fee must be paid here or a valid pass shown. Since passing through this loop is mandatory, its negligible 0.1 miles is included in the mileages from this point on.
1.8
The Generals Highway is on the right. This road passes through Sequoia National Forest on its way to Sequoia National Park.
3.0
On the right is Wilsonia, a private community within the park.
3.1 Sunset Campground in Kings Canyon National Park
Sunset Campground, the first of many campgrounds in the park, is on the left.
3.3 Kings Canyon Visitor Center in Kings Canyon National Park
The road approaches the Grant Grove area. The Kings Canyon Visitor Center and Grant Village Lodging are located here. See the Lodging Page for more information.
3.5 Azalea Campground in Kings Canyon National Park
Roads go to both the left and the right here. To the left is the Azalea Campground, the Columbine Picnic Area, and access to the General Grant Tree and General Grant Loop Trail. To the right is the Crystal Springs Campground.
4.6
The road leaves Kings Canyon National Park and enters Sequoia National Forest.
