Books on Katmai National Park
Below is a listing of the few books available about Katmai National Park. There are no trail guides, as Katmai has no real trail system. Most books concentrate on the brown bears the park is famous for, along with its volcanic nature. At the bottom of each listing, we list a number of places where these can be currently purchased. Katmai Country
This book deals with the Katmai region of Alaska. In addition to a heavy focus on the bears, this book also talks about the volcanic features of the park, complete with photography. It is produced by the Alaska Geographic Society.
The Bears of Katmai: Alaska's Favorite Brown Bears
This book is the work of a professional photographer who spent more than five years in Katmai National Park observing its famous brown bears. The book is filled with wonderful photography and some of the author's stories of the park. It's availability is erratic, but there are usually used copies available at reasonable prices.
