Getting to Grand Canyon |
| There are two main areas to visit at Grand Canyon, the North Rim and the South Rim. It is nearly a five hour drive in between them. To reach the South Rim, travel 60 miles north on AZ-64 from I-40 in the city of Williams. The North Rim is in a very remote area far from developed areas. From Kanab, Utah, take Alt US-89 south for 36 miles, and then AZ-67 south for 43 miles. This is about a two hour drive to reach the rim. The nearest airport to the North Rim is in Page (PGA), the main hub for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Lake Powell, a drive of almost three hours to either rim. It is a regional airport with limited major airline service and car rental. For the South Rim, a small airport adjacent to the park (GCN) offers very limited service. Most people fly into Flagstaff (FLG), 90 minutes away, Phoenix (PHX), four hours away, or Las Vegas (LAS), five hours away. All of these offer major airline service and car rental, with Las Vegas offering the most variety and lowest fares. Expedia searches are provided below for price references. For flights, simply enter your origin, destination, dates, and number of passengers. For cars, change the radio button at the top to car, enter the pickup airport, the dropoff airport (usually the same), and the pickup and dropoff dates/times. |
