This is the Big Bend National Park entry in the extensive Falcon Guides series. When looking for a hiking guide book of a park, we generally look for the Falcon Guide first. With few exceptions, they are very good at what they do, and we like to have a consistent format to get used to.
The Big Bend Guide
This is a very small book, literally, on Big Bend National Park. Despite its small size, it offers a lot of good information. At its very inexpensive price, it is well worth the purchase, and we recommend it.
Enjoying Big Bend National Park
For those interested in a more normal sized book, this is probably the best general guidebook to Big Bend National Park. It features lots of general information, and has ideas and activities for those of all ages and fitness levels.
Naturalist's Big Bend
This is an excellent guide to all of the wildlife and plant life of Big Bend National Park. It was written by the former chief naturalist of the park, and offers a wealth of great info.
Big Bend National Park
This is a very nice hardcover photo book featuring Big Bend National Park. It showcases the work of Laurence Parent, who also wrote the Falcon hiking guide listed first on this page. Recommended for anyone who would like a coffee table type book of the park.
Big Bend: The Story Behind the Scenery
This is the Big Bend National Park edition of the very common "The Story Behind the Scenery" series. These books are very commonly found in the visitor centers and gift shops of the parks. They are short, but they provide good photos and general information on the park itself.
